New Mexico Public Facility Managers Association

The state of New Mexico leads the nation in standardizing school operations on a sustainable platform that streamlines process, saves money, raises transparency, and empowers school and state officials to make improve the overall learning environment for students and be responsible stewards of community resources.

In response to the 1998 court ruling in Zuni School District v. State, CV-98-14-II1 , The State of New Mexico Legislative Education Study Committee (LESC), in coordination with the Public School Capital Outlay Oversight Task Force (PSCOOTF) and the Public Schools Facility Authority (PSFA), embarked on an unprecedented journey to capture maintenance performance data at the state’s eighty-nine kindergarten through twelfth grade (K-12) districts. Their charter was to document the quality of a district’s maintenance program and how well they maintain facilities and those constructed through the procurement of Capital Outlay funds.

To determine the quality of maintenance in the NM public schools, the state standardized its Facility Information Management System (FIMS) and partnered with Dude Solutions.

Currently, there are 90 public school districts that are licensing over 236 Dude Solutions products in New Mexico. All public schools have access to maintenance management, utility management, and KPI platforms. Twenty-four districts manage IT incidents, 11 districts manage field trips, 11 manage inventory control, and 8 manage facility use and rentals with Dude Solutions. In FY 2015, the software supported approximately 332,363 students in 1,584 school buildings in New Mexico. 5,805 educators and support staff used the online requester portal to report and track repair requests and maintenance teams completed over 203,192 repair requests and 61,313 PMs.
